Consumer Right to Know--One Million in '98 campaignHelp Secure Mandatory Labeling of Genetically Engineered Foods! The Consumer Right to Know--One Million in '98 Campaign was established last year to gather one million signatures by Thanksgiving 1998 in support of mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods. Now Mothers for Natural Law, the nonprofit organization that initiated the Right to Know campaign, has just received a $10,000 grant from Ben and Jerry's to help support coordination of the drive across the U.S. All Natural Law Party candidates, leaders, and supporters are warmly invited to become coordinators or signature gatherers for the Consumer Right to Know campaign and to serve as local contacts in their areas. Mothers for Natural Law will post the names of all coordinators on the new Mothers web site (www.safe-food.org) and will refer callers to them as well. Supporters of the drive can also sign the Million Signature Petition online at www.safe-food.org. Mothers for Natural Law has developed many new materials to help support coordinators and signature gatherers, including press kits, materials for health food stores, posters, bumper stickers, and more. These materials will accelerate national momentum for mandatory labeling, which protected the organic label last May. We strongly encourage you to help support this important petition drive and thereby safeguard both the health and the rights of American consumers. If you would like to be a field coordinator or a signature gatherer for the Consumer Right to Know--One Million in '98 Campaign, please call Margaret Dwyer at 641-472-2809 for more information. |
