Dateline 4/27/2001 Minnesota Candidate Mary Mellen Appointed To Minnesota Environmental Quality Board By Governor Jesse VenturaNatural Law-Independence coalition candidate Mary Mellen, who ran for the Minnesota State House of Representatives (District 62A) in the 2000 election and won 17% of the vote, has just been appointed by Governor Jesse Ventura to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board. The 15-member Board, composed of 10 state commissioners and 5 public members, assures coordination and cooperation among state agencies on environmental issues and advises the governor and legislature on environmental legislation and issues. Ms. Mellen was selected as a board Member from among several hundred applicants. In her certificate of appointment, Gov. Ventura states, "Because of the special trust and confidence I have in your integrity, judgment and ability, I have appointed and commissioned you to have and to hold [this] office." Ms. Mellen's appointment will last four years. All of us at the Natural Law Party send Ms. Mellen our deepest congratulations for this wonderful achievement.
