 Dateline 6/2/2000 Hagelin Featured on Fox TV NewsThe award-winning Fox national newsmagazine "The Edge" with Paula Zahn showcased John Hagelin on May 30 as the foremost political leader in the fight against genetically altered foods. The evening news program highlighted the growing controversy surrounding GE foods and pitted Dr. Hagelin against national biotech lobbyist Dr. Michael Philips. "As a nuclear physicist, I am not technology shy," Hagelin said. "But I am scared to death about the genetic manipulation of our food supply. The Clinton/Gore administration is pushing these foods, despite grave misgivings over their health risks by the FDA's own staff scientists." Dr. Hagelin has helped draft legislation calling for mandatory labeling of GE foods that is making its way through the House and Senate. "In America, we have the right to know," he said. | |
