John Hagelin, Ph.D. Presidential Candidate of the Natural Law Party

John Hagelin, Ph.D., is a world authority in the area of unified quantum field theories, an educator, an author, an inventor and an entrepreneur, and is currently seeking the presidential nomination from the Reform, Green and Natural Law parties in this millennial election.

As a world-renowned quantum physicist, Dr. Hagelin has conducted pioneering research at CERN (the European Center for Particle Physics) and SLAC (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) and is responsible for the development of a highly successful grand unified field theory based on the superstring. His articles on electroweak unification, grand unification, supersymmetry and cosmology include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences. His work has appeared in leading scientific journals in the U.S. and abroad, including The Physical Review, Physical Review Letters, Physics Letters, and Nuclear Physics. His scientific contributions have also been featured in a cover story in Discover (1991).

As Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, a progressive policy think tank, Dr. Hagelin has successfully headed a nationwide effort to identify, scientifically verify and promote cost-effective solutions to critical social problems in the fields of crime, health care, education, economy, biotechnology, energy and the environment. He works closely with the U.S. Congress to implement these forward-looking, prevention-oriented solutions.

In addition, Dr. Hagelin has spent much of the past quarter century leading a scientific investigation into the foundations of human consciousness. In his book, Manual for a Perfect Government, Dr. Hagelin shows how, through educational programs that develop human consciousness, and through policies and programs that effectively harness the laws of nature, it is possible to solve acute social problems and enhance governmental effectiveness.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Hagelin was named winner of the prestigious Kilby Award, which recognizes scientists who have made "major contributions to society through their applied research in the fields of science and technology." The award recognized Dr. Hagelin as "a scientist in the tradition of Einstein, Jeans, Bohr and Eddington." Other Kilby Award winners include Vinton Cerf ("Father of the Internet"), Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple Computer, Inc.) and Tim Berners-Lee (creator of the World Wide Web).

Dr. Hagelin reaches millions through his frequent television and radio appearances, print interviews and lectures around the world. He has appeared many times on CNN's Larry King Live! and Inside Politics; CNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, and Roseanne. Dr. Hagelin has been featured in the Washington Post, the New York Times, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and virtually every other major metropolitan newspaper. He has been on NPR’s Morning Edition and Talk of the Nation; nationally syndicated ABC, CBS and AP radio; the Jim Bohannon show; as well as hundreds of radio shows in major markets around the country.

Dr. Hagelin has traveled to 35 countries during the past five years, speaking to government and business leaders, the scientific community, and the public on the subjects of science, technology, public policy, and higher states of consciousness.

Dr. Hagelin received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He is currently Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, and Founder and Director of Research at Enlightened Audio Designs Corporation. He lives in Fairfield, Iowa.
